ROOK-HOPPERs e8, e1; g1
1.Rd7! (2.Re7#) 1...Re4 2.Sd3# 1...Be4 2.Sxg4# 1...Qf3 2.RHe6# 1...Bf5 2.Re6#
In the first two variations Black defends by cutting the line of the wBg2 to d4, providing the bK with a potential flight. Any piece landing on e4 (except the bQ, which would be self-check) pins the bQ. White then plays pin-mates which also take advantage of the Grimshaw provided by the black R and B. Black can also cut the g2-d5 line by 1...Qf3, but this clears the way for the wRHe1 to mate on e6. Finally, 1...Bf5 is a standard self-block.
